Based on the perceptions of our president since the 1980s as "An ageing society is coming," we are researching solutions to problems by the growing number of older people. and we have been trying to not becoming it a negative factor and to make our society sustainable.
Yes! We are the institute dedicated to researching how to make the super-aging
society sustainable.
We are a designated Institute of the Ministry of Education and Science,
and we collaborate with many universities for research, and do activites
of the Biophilia Rehabilitation Academy and the International one. And
we research and develop social technologies (philosophy, policy, industry
including rehabilitation devices and training systems, etc.,) that enable
people to design a total lifestyle for independent daily living even if
they age and become frail.
We are conducting Interdisciplinary studies of the wide domain based on
the realization of the above in order to build a society in which elderly
can live independent living.
We believe that the joint research of many doctors is a reflection of the expectation of our clients, and we will continue to work to achieve this goal through the innovation of rehabilitation medicine, as follows: "In 2025, the necessary national burden will be 141 trillion yen (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare), and the number of elderly people needing nursing care will be 5.2 million (including 2.3 million people who are bedridden), according to the WAM projections.
We are doing research to establish a sustainable society in which older
citizens can thrive, based on the premise that 30%, or 1.7 million people,
will return to their daily activities indipendently, who will need nursing
care.
We will continue our efforts to make further contributions to society.
